Cultivating Comunidad: Best Practices for Covering Hispanic Communities in Agriculture
October 29 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm CDT

Hispanic and Latino workers, farmers, and families are part of the backbone of American agriculture. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, ACN invites communicators to an hour-long webinar on covering these communities with accuracy, respect, and depth.
This conversation will look at the story from two angles: the newsroom and the farm. Panelists will share practical ways to build trust with sources, work across language and cultural differences, avoid common framing pitfalls, and find the stories that often go untold.
Whether you write, edit, shoot, or manage communications for an ag organization, you’ll come away with ideas you can use in your next story, campaign, or post.
Panelists
- Monica Cordero, Investigate Midwest, brings a journalist’s view of reporting on Hispanic communities in agriculture and rural America.
- Katie Dotterer, a former dairy farmer known as the Agvokate, offers a farmer’s view and how communicators can tell their stories well.
Moderator: Chris Torres
