What Do Ag Editors Want for Christmas?
By Bill Spiegel, Byline Editor
Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, we know Santa Claus will soon be stopping by your home this Christmas. What have you asked The Big Guy to bring you this year – a new camera lens? Anti-procrastination pills? A non-dogeared copy of Strunk and White’s “The Elements of Style?”
On our social media pages, we asked ACN members what they have on their Christmas list, and here are a few of the responses.
Real-time, accurate transcription. As in, while I’m talking to sources for stories, I would love to have the notes already generated after we’ve talked so I can turn the story around faster. – Bethany Baratta, editor, Iowa Soybean Review
A memory foam seat cushion for the office chair – Ashley Craft, freelance writer and social media strategist
These Sharpie gel pens are the best pens in the history of writing. And I just ordered this stand light and video light kit and am PSYCHED about it!! – Holly Spangler, Editor, Prairie Farmer
I’ve got my eye on a book of Philippe Halsman’s photography. He had a great sense of humor and an exciting approach to portraiture. It’s always fun to learn from an artist like that! – Steve Werblow, Steve Werblow Communications
I’d love a portable second screen to take with me while I travel and a new office chair! – Holly Martin, Angus Communications
I really need a new “good” camera bag…the kind you want to take into a banquet or event when my trusty Think Tank waist pack looks a little too functional. – Miranda Reiman, Angus Communications
I think I want one of those digital writing pads so I can stop relying on the random scraps of paper flung around my desk! It would be awesome for them to all live in the same place. – Martha Mintz, Corral Creek Communications
I’m thinking experiences over things…I would love for Santa to better organize my photo archive! – Katie Knapp, The Ag Photographer
I’m looking for a classy-not-cheesy Christmas necklace(s) and/or scarf – to look festive on all my work video calls this time of year! – Kenna Rathai, broadhead.
