By Joy Crosby, ACN President

Serving as president of the Ag Communicators Network over the past year has been both an honor and a privilege. As I reflect on this experience, I am reminded that leadership is less about the title you hold and more about the people you have the opportunity to serve.
This year has reinforced what makes ACN such a special organization—its members. Whether seasoned professionals or students just beginning their careers, our members are united by a passion for communicating agriculture’s story with accuracy, integrity and purpose. Watching that passion on display throughout the year has been both inspiring and encouraging.
Together, we unveiled a new website and membership platform, expanded opportunities for professional development, strengthened member engagement and continued building resources that will benefit the organization for years to come. None of these accomplishments happened because of one individual. They happened because dedicated volunteers, committee members, board members and staff generously gave their time, talents and ideas to move ACN forward.
Serving alongside this board has been one of the greatest rewards of my presidency. Their willingness to listen, collaborate and tackle challenges with professionalism and respect demonstrated the very best of servant leadership. I am sincerely grateful for their commitment and friendship. I look forward to passing the gavel to Joel Reichenberger with DTN/Progressive Farmer at our business meeting on July 20 and seeing how he continues to lead ACN.
As my term ends, I leave with a deeper appreciation for the important role ACN plays in our profession. In a world where agriculture is often misunderstood, skilled communicators have never been more important. The work our members do every day helps build trust, educate consumers and advocate for an industry that touches every life.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your president. I am grateful for your support, your encouragement and your confidence throughout this journey. While my year as president is ending, my commitment to ACN certainly is not. I look forward to supporting our next generation of leaders and watching our organization continue to grow and thrive. The future of ACN is bright because of each of you!
