2023 Social Media Predictions: Part 2

By: Ashlyn Rochester, Communications Specialist

Last week we covered Facebook predictions for 2023, and this article will cover Instagram predictions. Instagram is trying to keep up with TikTok and here are the predicted trends for the visual app.

Instagram

As Meta is the parent company, Instagram too will mimic Facebook with more AI-recommended content and more Reels. It means a user’s feed is now a mix of old and new posts from people they follow with random posts from accounts and pages they’re not following. It doesn’t seem to be popular with current users, but Instagram is working to find the balance until it gets it right.

Other important updates for Instagram include more integrations. Instagram is the middleman between the current state and the metaverse, so it wants to build stronger integrations for creators such as AR and 3D posts, more integration of NFT art, Gif generated from Live Photos and 3D creation tools from Spark AR.

Also expect an increase in:

  • AR and interactive ads to engage users in a new way
  • Live-stream shopping
