By: Ashlyn Rochester, Communications Specialist
SocialMediaToday released “32 Predictions for Social Media Marketing 2023” recently. And as Ag communicators and marketers, you need to know the latest so you can reach their audience. We’ll cover one of the biggest social media applications in Part 1, Facebook. In our next article, we’ll cover Instagram.
Facebook saw how successful TikTok was at recommending content that users didn’t follow, so now Facebook it trying that strategy too. Zuckerberg said in a recent interview, “What’s basically going to happen is that, over the next year or two, we’ll start showing more recommended content in the Feed.” This gives more exposure to creators as their content will be seen by people outside of their audience. Zuckerberg believes Facebook has the advantage with this strategy since Facebook can suggest not only videos, but images, text posts, links, news updates, group updates, long-form videos, and more. It’s why Facebook has two alternative news feeds to encourage this activity. There will be a Home feed to promote outside content and a Feeds tab to see posts from friends.
According to Meta, they found that more engagements are happening in Direct Messages as people will engage with content, then send it to their friends via DM. This is why click-to-message ads will grow in 2023, so expect to see Facebook ad options to promote Direct Message connections. Also expect a rise:
• Avatar integration and Share to Reels for VR posts to encourage excitement about the metaverse
• Augmented reality experiences to go with the Metaverse AR glasses
Stay tuned for next week’s predictions about Instagram!
