By Laurie Bedord, Future Ag Communicators Committee Chair, Meredith Agrimedia

AAEA The Agricultural Communicators Network is excited to announce that two outstanding students have been chosen to serve as the 2020 AAEA Agricultural Communicators Network summer interns.

Jessica Wesson

Jessica Wesson has been selected for the editorial communications internship with Feed & Grain magazine in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. She is a senior at the University of Arkansas and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education, Communication and Technology with a double concentration in agricultural communications and agricultural leadership.

“Jessica has proven herself academically, in and out of the classroom,” says K. Jill Rucker, Associate Professor, University of Arkansas. “She continues to seek professional development opportunities to strengthen her skills and working portfolio. But most importantly, Jessica is a woman of integrity; she knows her core values and showcases them through her actions.”

Dylan Davidson

Dylan Davidson has been selected for the marketing communications internship with the U.S. Wheat Associates in Arlington, Virginia. He is a senior at Texas Tech University and is majoring in agricultural communications.

“While working for Picador Creative, an on-campus communication internship, Dylan has always challenged and pushed himself to produce quality material for clients within and outside of the university,” says Erica Irlbeck, Associate Professor of Agricultural Communications, Texas Tech University. “He has superb digital editing skills as well as excellent written and verbal skills. Dylan will be a great asset to the U.S. Wheat Associates.”

Each intern will earn a $4,500 stipend for the 8- to 10-week assignment, $1,000 toward travel costs as well as a paid registration to attend the Agricultural Media Summit in Kansas City, Missouri, from July 25 to 29, 2020.

The editorial internship is made possible through the generosity of Feed & Grain magazine, published by IDEAg Group, LLC, and its parent company American Farm Bureau Federation. The marketing internship is made possible through the generosity of Gardner & Gardner Communications and Sage marketing agency.
