By: Sarah Meghrian, 2021 AAEA Intern
Hi, my name is Sarah Meghrian and I have been chosen as the 2021 AAEA The Ag Communicators Network intern for the Illinois Soybean Association this summer. I am a student at the University of Illinois pursuing degrees in Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications along with Agribusiness Markets and Management.
Something that differentiates me from many of my peers is that I am not from a farm background. I am from Peoria, Illinois and never knew much about agriculture until my senior year of high school. This was when I began to fall in love with agriculture and its importance in the world. I ended up choosing to major in agricultural fields because I noticed just how essential agriculture is. I want to do something with my talents that will truly make an impact, and I have come to realize that I can achieve that through working in agriculture.
I decided to apply for this AAEA internship because I knew it was something that I would learn from and succeed in. I look forward to all the writing I will be able to do and the people I get to meet throughout the summer. One goal I have set for myself in this internship is to gain a new skill. I am a firm believer that there is always more to learn, and I know that I will be given the chance to learn in this internship. I am excited to grow my communications skills and learn through practical application.
I am always up for trying new things and challenging myself. I look forward to pushing myself in this internship and gaining valuable experience that will help me when I eventually enter the workforce after graduation. I can’t wait to see where this internship takes me and am grateful for the opportunity to experience it!
