Ryan Tipps joined the ACN Board of Directors in July, 2025. Tipps spent more than 15 years in the newspaper, magazine, and digital publishing sectors before joining Carbon Media in 2016 as the founding editor of AGDAILY. That’s the same year he joined the Agricultural Communicators Network and attended his first Ag Media Summit.
Ryan graduated from Wabash College in Indiana, studied in Athens, Greece, before moving to Virginia and earning a master’s degree in Agriculture and Life Sciences from Virginia Tech. Though Ryan had long served as an editor and college football writer, he got his start covering agriculture in 2011 while at The Roanoke Times daily newspaper and as a freelance writer for Farm Credit of the Virginias.
Over the past decade, Ryan has worked on both digital and print publications at Carbon Media, while helping to steer a variety of new initiatives for the next generation in agriculture. Prior to joining ACN’s Board of Directors, Ryan served as the founding chair of the Diversity Advancement Committee and had a role on several other committees, too.
“Working in rural America — where a bit of isolation is part of the job description — it’s often difficult to appreciate how connected and passionate the world of agricultural communication is,” said Ryan. “ACN helps to unite that enthusiasm of authentic storytelling, which supports the people and innovations that thrive on our farms and ranches.”
