By Baylee Hogan, AAEA 2021 Summer Intern at broadhead Marketing Agency
During my time at broadhead, I worked on projects for their clients which allowed me to learn more than I would in a classroom. I learned how to properly write articles, deliver pitches to journalists and create social media influencer contracts. I also worked on media relations projects that gave me a different look into the public relations industry. This knowledge will help me write a feature story for my capstone class and finish my education at Oklahoma State University.

When I started my internship at broadhead, I didn’t know the difference between the marketing and advertising industries. I learned a lot about advertising during in my first week at broadhead and fell in love with the industry. I’m excited to see where it leads me.
I believe I flourished as an intern because of the mentoring I received at broadhead. I loved working in the public relations department. My supervisor gave me projects that took me out of my comfort zone, and broadened my horizons.

My internship experience was truly a “once-in-a-lifetime” event. I would recommend all Ag Communication students apply for an AAEA internship. I made so many connections and created lifelong memories during my 8 weeks at broadhead. I am forever grateful I was able to take part in this amazing opportunity.
