How to Create Error-Free Content in 2023

By: Ashlyn Rochester, ACN Communications Specialist

Article originated from thetilt.com.

Content creation happens in various ways – when inspiration strikes, during a brainstorming session, or after careful research. However, it gets done – the key to creating error-free content lies in establishing a process that follows the initial phase.  Here are ways to create error-free content in each stage of content creation.

Research Phase

In your research phase, you should seek reliable sources and cite original and native sources. For example, you should link to the original source instead of another article that mentions the data. Always document your sources, claims, and data with links in your notes at the bottom of the content or hyperlinked.

Creation Phase

Creating content right the first time prevents wasting time by coming back to it to correct your errors. Instead, slow down and create content efficiently by utilizing a style guide, so your content has consistency.

Post-Creation Phase

This is before publishing and after creating content, and when you need to use an eye for detail. This is the last chance to seek and correct errors before publishing. When reading content, start with the last sentence first to catch errors without context and speed through the writing. Tools like Microsoft Editor and Grammarly help catch simple errors too. Lastly, having a person read through your content will also help improve your content, style, grammar, etc.

Post-Publishing Phase

After hitting publish, review your content again to catch any last errors that got through the editing process. And if you find a mistake, it’s better to find it earlier rather than later, and before your audience finds it too. If the error is in a visual piece of content like a photo or video, it’s up to you to determine if you should redo the content or delete the post.

With these tips, you’ll have error-free content in 2023!
