Affiliate Members: 12 Reasons to Enter the AAEA Awards Program

You only have one chance every year to enter your winning work in the AAEA Communication Awards program, but it’s easy to come up with at least 12 reasons to enter. Consider the following:

12. It’s digital! No muss, no fuss.

11. Low cost. Virtually every other contest you could enter (NAMA, PRSA, IABC, etc.) has steeper entry fees.

10. Easy write-ups. Each entry only needs a short page of explanation. No comm contest is easier.

9. There’s nothing new to create. You already have the files you need; they’re just sitting there, waiting for a shot at glory.

8. Skill development. If you are lucky enough to have an intern or young staff member on hand, this is a perfect way to help him or her build skills.

7. Something to look forward to. You don’t want to miss that delicious feeling of anticipation as the AMS awards program starts.

6. Your good work deserves it. You work hard. Give your work a chance to shine!

5. A little self-promotion is a good thing. Despite what you may have learned in Sunday school, sometimes we have point out our own good deeds.

4. Job security. The people who make your paycheck possible want to know they are putting their money in the right place.

3. Validation. Sure, good work is its own reward, but peer recognition is icing on the cake.

2. Get a head start. There’s nothing like writing down goals and results to provide clarity – and a head start on planning for next year.

1. Your mom will be proud. You know how hard it is to explain your job to your family? This might help.
