This close up shot of two handfuls of hemp was one in a series of photos taken by AAEA Member and Freelancer Martha Mintz. The image accompanied a story in John Deere’s The Furrow magazine.
“Hemp Collection” received an Honorable Mention in the “Nuts and Bolts: Crops” photography category at the 2021 AAEA Communication Awards ceremony.
Some of the judges’ comments included:
“Nice photo here for the multi-shot cropping entry.”
“Vivid detail shots, sharp focus, the fellow engaged with their magnifier. Well-done.”
Mintz also received an Honorable Mention in the “Rotating Theme: Joy” photgraphy category. “Grandma’s Joy” captured two generations of family rolling out dough for a peach pie.
Some of the judges comments included:
“I think this is nice. The photo very nicely shows the generational bond, and no awareness of the camera and photographer.”
“Beautiful moment captured.”
The photo was published in an article within The Furrow magazine. Mintz won a total of five awards and four honorable mentions in both writing and photography categories at this year’s awards ceremony.
