Today Meredith Corporation is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its first published website, Successful Farming’s Agriculture.com, which debuted on May 15, 1995. This early digital innovation led to securing the coveted URL and set Meredith on the path to becoming the Top 10 Digital Company it is today.
At launch, Agriculture.com was ahead of its time and provided farmers with updated agriculture news, weather patterns, and crop and livestock market information faster than ever. The site was also a hit with advertisers from the start and as a result was profitable from day one.
Successful Farming has always been one of Meredith’s most technologically advanced brands. In addition to being Meredith’s first magazine and having the company’s first internet site, it also launched Meredith’s first radio show; was an early entrant to the broadcast space with two television shows; consistently produces thousands of targeted versions of each issue of its magazine based on farmers’ crops, locations, and other demographics; and is committed to reporting on advanced innovations used in agriculture.
“Successful Farming aims to meet farmers wherever they are, which means being available on a number of digital platforms,” said Scott Mortimer, Meredith Agrimedia VP/Group Publisher. “In addition to Agriculture.com and the print magazine, the brand offers weekly radio and television shows, two podcasts, and most recently an Amazon Alexa Skill called ‘Successful Farming Live’ that provides farmers with the most up-to-date commodities prices on demand.”
