The AAEA Ag Communicators Network is accepting applications for its 2019 editorial and marketing communications summer internships.
The first undergraduate college student in agricultural communications will be chosen to work as an editorial communications intern for DTN/Progressive Farmer in Omaha, Nebraska.
“Our company offers a unique internship opportunity because of the diversity of our products and audiences,” says Elaine Shein, Associate Managing Editor. “The intern would learn about and contribute to our magazine as well as online/digital products and have opportunities to be involved in areas such as writing, editing, posting/layout, photography, audio/visual, social media, etc.”
A second student will be selected for the marketing communications internship with Charleston/Orwig in Hartland, Wisconsin.
“The intern will have an opportunity to experience agency life, speed and qualifications as well as work with some excellent clients that support U.S. agriculture,” says Lyle Orwig, Chairman and Founding Partner of Charleston/Orwig, Inc. “Additionally, he/she will gain insight into the entire food chain as we also work with the food industry.”
Candidates for both internships must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to take the initiative, be a multi-tasker as well as have strong leadership skills.
Each intern will earn a $4,500 stipend for approximately 10 weeks and another $1,000 toward the cost of attending the Agricultural Media Summit in Bloomington, Minnesota (July 26 to 31, 2019). Both internships are made possible through grants from the AAEA Professional Improvement Foundation.
