By Kelsey Litchfield, Host of the Ag Comm Network Podcast
We are sticking with the ag policy theme with our third episode of the Ag Comm Network podcast. This is an interview you won’t want to miss.
This week, I talked with Sara Wyant of Agri-Pulse Communications about her coverage of agriculture in D.C. She reveals the details of her one-on-one interview with President Trump from this past January. Listen in as she talks about his interview style and how her team combats fake news. You can watch her presidential interview here.
Sara also shares her observations of how the ag media industry has changed since her own start in the field. Here are some my favorite quotes from our interview.
“Learn about the issues, but also learn about the people and build relationships.”
“It’s not that we don’t ever make mistakes or typos, but we are going to approach every issue with a honest lens that people have been known to trust.”
“If you’ve got people on both sides of the aisle occasionally upset with you, that’s a pretty good thing in my business.”
“Our job is to bring prospective.”
I know you will learn a thing or two from this interview. I’ve already replayed it twice myself! Make sure to bring a notebook and pen with you while you are listening…you’ll want to write her advice down. Thanks again to Sara for joining me and for all who listen!
You can still catch the live stream which aired on Thursday, June 14th at 11 a.m. CST on the AAEA Facebook page. Listen on SoundCloud or subscribe on iTunes.
Leave us a rating and review on iTunes; it helps other people find us. Also, please send us guest and topic ideas. I want AAEA members to be a part of these interviews. Recommend yourself or another professional.
And this wouldn’t be a podcast if I didn’t give a plug for us on social media.
