A Season of Growth and Connection

By Joy Crosby, ACN President

As the seasons shift and we move into the heart of fall, I can’t help but feel a renewed sense of energy within the Ag Communicators Network. Change is often the spark that moves us forward — and this month, we have plenty to be excited about.

First and foremost, I’m thrilled to officially welcome our new management agency, Corner Window Communications, to the ACN family. Their experience, professionalism, and enthusiasm for our mission will strengthen our organization in countless ways. They’ve already hit the ground running, learning our traditions, understanding our members’ needs, and helping us plan for the future. I’m confident their partnership will bring fresh perspectives and new opportunities for growth within our organization.

That momentum continues with our upcoming regional workshop, which promises to be a valuable opportunity for networking and professional development. If you haven’t already marked your calendar, I encourage you to make plans to join us Oct. 28 in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. These workshops are designed to bring ACN members together to share ideas, learn new skills, and strengthen the relationships that make our network so unique. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or new to agricultural communications, you’ll walk away with fresh insights and a stronger sense of community. I encourage you to check out the article by Elizabeth Hodges for more information on the regional workshop and how to register.

Another exciting opportunity on the horizon is our mentorship program, which pairs experienced journalists and communicators with ag communication students eager to learn and grow. Mentorship is one of the most rewarding ways to get involved. If you haven’t yet taken part — either as a mentor or mentee — I encourage you to get involved. You never know how one conversation or connection might shape your path. I encourage you to check out the article by Courtney Girgis for more information on how to sign up and be paired with ag communication students.

As we move toward the close of the year, let’s carry this sense of momentum with us. With a strong management team, upcoming professional development opportunities and meaningful relationships across our membership, ACN is poised for an exciting future. If you are interested in volunteering and serving on a committee then please reach out to me. I am always looking forward to working together with our members and helping our organization continue to grow!

Thank you for being part of this network and for the role you play in advancing agricultural communications every day. Together, we’re building something lasting through one story, one photo, one connection and one season at a time.
