Two outstanding students have been chosen to serve as the 2019 AAEA Agricultural Communicators Network summer interns.
Loren Lindler was selected to be the AAEA editorial communications intern with DTN/Progressive Farmer in Omaha, Nebraska. She is a senior at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and is majoring in agricultural communications.
“Loren is one of the most professional and equipped-for-life young people that I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with,” says Becca Turner, Vice President, Marketing and Publication Relations, Sunbelt Ag Expo. “If I had an open spot on my staff, I’d hire her without hesitation.”
Katherine Wist was named the AAEA marketing communications intern with Charleston | Orwig in Hartland, Wisconsin. She is a junior at Kansas State University majoring in agricultural communications and journalism.
“Katherine understands that to be successful in the communications field, she must be able to extend her skill set. She works toward that goal every day. She demonstrates initiative and a drive to succeed,” says Heather Lansdowne, Kansas Department of Agriculture Director of Communications.
Each intern earns a $4,500 stipend for approximately 10 weeks and another $1,000 to cover costs associated with attending the Agricultural Media Summit in Minneapolis/Bloomington, Minnesota, July 27 to 31, 2019.
The AAEA marketing internship, which is in its seventh year, is made possible through a grant from the AAEA Professional Improvement Foundation, with support from Sage Communications and Gardner and Gardner Communications. The AAEA Professional Improvement Foundation sponsors the AAEA editorial internship.
