The Ag Communicators Network Mentoring Program Overview
- Vision: Through participation in the ACN Mentoring Program, ACN members will learn, be challenged, and grow together to achieve professional excellence in the Ag Media industry.
- Mission: The ACN Mentoring Program is dedicated to creating an environment for professional growth through positive mentor and mentee relationships where individuals can share resources, experiences, and advice to improve in their trade.
- Goals: To provide ag media professionals with more knowledge about the industry, and encouragement and insight from established ACN member mentors.
Program Objectives:
- A minimum commitment mentorship term of 12 months
- A minimum commitment of 9 hours in the one-year term (roughly 45 minutes/month or as schedules allow)
- Regular (preferably monthly) contact either in person, by phone, email or video chat
- Topics and conversations between mentor and mentee are expected to be confidential
- Participation in mid- and post-term evaluation
Mentor Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Develop goals for the relationship
- Set mentor/mentee meeting dates
- When appropriate, help improve mentee portfolio
- When appropriate, help mentee make contacts in the industry
- Be available to offer advice or refer mentee to others who can
- Participate in one (1) mentor group call to share experiences with others to improve experience.
Mentee Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Develop goals for the relationship
- Work with mentor to establish and uphold meeting dates
- Prepare list of questions you would like to ask your mentor
- When appropriate, provide mentor with portfolio
